This is an extremely detailed spiny trilobite. It is a large Cyphaspis boutscharafinense from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite has been microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab, as are many of our Moroccan trilobites. The trilobite is extremely inflated and very well articulated. The large, bulbous glabella is covered with distinct pustules, and both of the long, sweeping genal spines were prepared free of matrix. The stalked eyes and the long thoracic spine have also been painstakingly extracted in a free-standing manner for optimal display. The black-brown bug contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is beautifully showcased on the artistically sculpted base of limestone. This is a very fine display specimen of a spiny Cyphaspis from Morocco.
