This is a fine example of a classic US trilobite. This is a true Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! This specimen is missing some of its head, but is essentially complete. The trilobite has good detail preserved, showcasing the thick shell exoskeleton well. And there is also a large bryozoan and a cool baby Ceraurus preserved on the plate (can you find it?) Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a trilobite from this locality is. This is a very affordable pair of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
