This is an extremely rare UK trilobite. It is a beautiful Dalmanites longcaudatus from the Silurian of Wenlock Edge, Shropshire, UK. Silurian trilobites from Much Wenlock are among the most sought-after trilobites for collectors, and this fabulous specimen was recently acquired from the famous Chance Collection. This trilobite is almost fully complete, with the thick shell exoskeleton beautifully preserved. BOTH large compound eyes have the facets preserved, and the LONG telson (tailspine) is also easily seen - it is extremely rare to have both eyes AND long telson preserved on a specimen, let alone be of this high quality. The chocolate-brown color of the trilobite is fully natural and quite beautiful. And the bug is well displayed on the limestone base in which it was found - prepared by Alf himself! If you know anything about the history of UK trilobites, you will understand how rare and exciting this gem truly is! (Comes with Dr. Chance's original reference photo and ID notes.)
