This is a classic US trilobite. It is Phacops rana rana from the Middle Devonian Mahantango Formation of Perry County, Pennsylvania. This piece was found by Steve Hess in 1980. This trilobite is enrolled and fully complete. Both compound eyes have the facets preserved, which is quite unusual. The fossil has very good detail displayed. The bug also has the rock matrix in which it was found, which is also quite unique. This is a very nice enrolled example of the State Fossil of Pennsylvania.
