This is a classic U.S. trilobite. It is a fine Arctinurus boltoni from the Silurian of New York. This is one of the most sought-after and displayable types of trilobites from New York. We collected the quarry for a year, and only found a handful of complete specimens. This distinct trilobite is prone and exhibits fine detail. The cephalic process and the eyes of the trilobite are easily seen. The pleural spines terminate in sharp points and the broad, fan-shaped pygidium is beautifully displayed. The entire carapace of the trilobite is covered with small pustules. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on the semi-squared matrix plate. And at over FIVE inches long, this is a very large example. This is a displayable example of this highly collectible Lichid trilobite.
