Here is a killer example of Flexicalymene retrorsa from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was found years ago and just now prepared. This is a Flexicalymene retrorsa, not F. meeki, easily recognizable by the lack of genal spines on this specimen. This large trilobite is extremely inflated and beautifully articulated. The thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug is very complete, and the free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The dark brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the blue-grey matrix. The finely detailed bug is well showcased on the large, natural block of shale. This is one of the best complete examples of Flexicalymene retrorsa that we have seen.
