Here is an extremely rare US trilobite. It is an enrolled Cheirurus from the Silurian of Illinois. This specimen was recently acquired from a major collection. This trilobite is from the same formation that produces the common Sthenarocalymene celebra trilobites, and types other than Sthenarocalymene are almost never found. This specimen is well preserved in an enrolled position. The bug exhibits fine detail and is extremely inflated and nicely articulated. The trilobite is very tightly enrolled, head to tail. This is one of only a handful of Cheirurus ever found at this locality. (Matrix piece this trilobite fits into is included, but not pictured.)
