This is an uncommon species of Asaphus from the Lower Ordovician of Russia. Both trilobites are Asaphus raniceps. This trilobite is characterized by the small eyes and less rounded (more pointed) cephalon and pygidium. Both specimens are prone and very 3-dimensional. They are very nicely articulated. The exoskeleton of each trilobite is well preserved. The fossils have great caramel-brown color and good contrast with the light-colored limestone matrix. This is a very fine double specimen of this unusual species of Asaphus.
