This is a very impressive Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a large Wanneria walcottana from the classic Kinzers Formation of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This awesome specimen was found in 1985, and has been in a MAJOR fossil collection ever since. This specimen was found in the Brubaker's Quarry - trilobites from this now-buried quarry are much rarer than fossils from the Fruitville Quarry or most other local quarries. This primitive trilobite is very well preserved and exhibits outstanding detail. The inflated cephalon (head) is beautifully displayed, and very wide segments are very easily seen. Many Wannerias from the Kinzers are preserved elongated, looking similar to Olenellus. But this distinct specimen is one of the rare rounder, wider-than-tall examples. This is one of the most sought-after trilobites from Pennsylvania - and just one look at the head leaves no doubt that it is a true Wanneria.
