This is a very nice example of an extremely unusual trilobite. This is a rare Bolaspidella sp. from Utah. This specimen comes from the Eugene Thomas Collection. This type is different than most Bolaspidella - it has spines on the axial lobe. One LONG spine is easily seen crossing the right side of the body. This trilobite is complete with both free cheeks intact. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very fine example of this very uncommon spiny trilobite from Utah.
