This is a very unusual US trilobite. It is a cool Phacops logani from the Lower Devonian of Perry County, Pennsylvania. This piece was found by Eugene Thomas in the 1980's and was in his collection until now. This site is most famous for the Odontocephalus trilobites which were occasionally unearthed - this location is now closed to collecting, and the only way to obtain the trilobites from this site is from an old collection or from the collector. This trilobite is enrolled, and has the tail curled under. Both compound eyes have the facets preserved, which is quite unusual. The fossil has very good detail displayed. The bug has nice, natural dark color on the thick shell exoskeleton. This is a very rare example of this classic trilobite from Pennsylvania - found over 25 years ago.
