This is a very colorful specimen of Illaenula vietnamica from the Devonian of China. This distinct trilobite is very 3-dimensional and wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The fine detail of the trilobite is easily seen - the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined, and the almost-smooth cephalon and pygidium are quite distinct. The red-colored bug is fully natural and contrasts beautifully with the pink matrix. This is a very nice, complete example of this unusual Devonian trilobite from China.
