This is an uncommon US trilobite. It is a large Viaphacops sp. from the Bois d'Arc Formation of Oklahoma. This trilobite was fossilized laying on its side and is EXTREMELY inflated. The trilobite is well preserved and exhibits great detail. The pustules on the large glabella are clearly defined, and the TINY compound eyes are easily seen. The thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton of the bug contrasts strikingly with the cream-colored matrix. The trilobite is beautifully showcased on the nice plate of sculpted limestone. This is a cool specimen of this hard-to-find trilobite that has character, laying on its side.
