Here is a rare trilobite. This is a Dorypyge swasii from the Wheeler Shale in Utah. This specimen was found in 1996 by Eugene Thomas and just now microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite was prepared ventrally - although the tail is missing, it has the hypostoma (mouthplate) exposed. Many trilobite collectors will find this feature very interesting. This is a nice study specimen of a Dorypyge trilobite with hypostoma from the Middle Cambrian.
