This is an unusual example of a rarely-seen trilobite. It is a fine pair of Modocia brevispina from the House Range of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996 and just recently prepared. These bugs differ from the more common Elrathia in that the head is not as wide and the pleurons are more pointed. Both of the bugs are complete, which is quite unusual. The detail is very nice, and the overall articulation is excellent. But the cool feature of this fossil is that one trilobite is overlapping the other - not in a negative way, but in an aesthetic way! The trilobites are well showcased on the large, squared matrix plate. This is a collectible pair of Modocia brevispina that display extremely well.
