This is a nice display specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This specimen was acquired from the Eugene Thomas Collection. The Calymene is very inflated and wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is well articulated and exhibits great detail. The thick brownish-black exoskeleton of the bug contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. But the coolest feature of this fossil is the Arctinurus boltoni tail that is preserved on the plate. This is a very displayable pair of trilobites from the Rochester Shale.
