This is a very rare trilobite fossil. It is a complete Elrathina cordillerae from the famous Burgess Shale locality. This specimen is from an OLD collection (number on back), and was found DECADES ago. This trilobite has very good detail preserved (much better than the photo shows). The bug has both free cheeks intact, showing that the animal was probably alive when buried, not a moulted exoskeleton. The trilobite is easily seen, showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a very fine specimen for someone who wants a nice trilobite fossil from the classic Burgess Shale.
