Here is a very nice spiny trilobite. This is Leonaspis sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This species of Leonaspis has a long, rectangular body. This inflated specimen is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and the small, blunt spines on the borders of the cheeks are intact. The extremely long genal and pleural spines are easily seen, and the pygidial spines are also clearly defined. The protruding eyes are nicely displayed. The black trilobite contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The bug is well showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very nice example of this type of Leonaspis.
