This is a gorgeous trilobite. It is a beautiful Metacanthina issoumourensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This distinct trilobite has been meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. The 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail! The individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are very easily seen. The tip of the pointed snout has been prepared in a free standing manner, as have both genal spines. The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. The fossil is wonderfully showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is one of the better quality specimens of Asteropyge that we have ever prepared.
