This is a classic Ordovician trilobite. It is a nice Ceraurus plattinensis from Ontario, Canada. This type is one of the hardest Canadian Ceraurus-types to find in good shape. This specimen was acquired from the Eugene Thomas Collection. The trilobite is well articulated and exhibits fine detail. The sweeping genal spines and the long pygidial spines are well displayed. The dark-colored fossil contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The trilobite is nicely showcased on the large plate of limestone. This is a very nice example of one of the most popular trilobites among collectors.
