This is a beautiful specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is very inflated and wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is well articulated and exhibits great detail. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The thick brownish-black exoskeleton of the bug contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale.
