This is a pair of very rare phacopid trilobites from Oklahoma. These are Viaphacops sp. from the Bois d'Arc Formation. This specimen was acquired from the late Eugene Thomas' Collection. This type is known for its bulbous nose with distinct glabellar furrows. These extremely inflated specimens display wonderfully on the squared matrix block. The natural caramel coloration contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored marlstone base. The TINY compound eyes are near-perfectly preserved. And these are not your average-sized Kainops or Paciphacops - these bugs are HUGE! This is a fabulous display specimen of TWO Lower Devonian Viaphacops trilobites.
