This is a rare QUAD Ceraurus pleurexanthemus plate from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! All four specimens on the plate have their free cheeks and eyes intact, which is quite unusual. The trilobites have great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons beautifully - the largest Ceraurus on the plate is very nice. The bugs are very well articulated and well displayed on the large limestone plate - fully natural, no compositing! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a piece like this is. This is a collectible multiple example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
