This is a very rare Scutellid trilobite. It is a distinct Thysanopeltis new sp. from Morocco. This type differs from Thysanopeltis speciosa in that the row of spines emanating from the border edge of the pygidium are long, thick, and pointed. This bug showcases this feature beautifully. The inflated trilobite is complete and has both free cheeks intact and tightly articulated. The thick shell exoskeleton is well preserved - the ribs and spines on the tail are wonderfully showcased. This specimen is decently large and is nicely presented on the sculpted matrix block. This is a very nice, complete example of this rare, spiny Scutellid trilobite.
