This is a very rare trilobite fossil. It is a complete Eoredlichia intermedia from the famous Chengjiang locality in China. This site is known worldwide for soft-body preservation of Lower Cambrian animals. The fauna is very similar to the Burgess Shale, but it is OLDER! Many one-of-a-kind organisms have been described exclusively from this formation.
This trilobite is extremely well preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The individual thoracic segments are easily seen, and both free cheeks are even intact. The trilobite has very good natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the large plate of matrix that contains two other trilobites. This is a very rare and extremely sought-after trilobite from one of the most famous invertebrate fossil localities in the world.
