Here is a classic US trilobite. This is Eldredgeops rana rana from the Middle Devonian of New York. This trilobite is wonderfully prone and exhibits great detail. The individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen, and the many pustules on the glabella are quite evident. The black fossil contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the large plate of shale that also contains two horn corals. And this is a split pair fossil - both halves are included here together. This is a nice example of a split pair Eldredgeops rana rana from New York State.
