This is a very rare US trilobite. It is a fabulous Ptyocephalus yersini from the Ordovician of Utah. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection. This trilobite is unusually well-preserved and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. This specimen is extremely prone and exhibits superb detail. The small, protruding eyes are easily seen, and squared head and tail are preserved in textbook fashion. The trilobite has great natural color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the squared plate of matrix. And, best of all, there is NO RESTORATION on this excellent trilobite. This is an outstanding specimen of this highly uncommon trilobite from the DeRosear Collection.
