Here is a nice example of a classic U. S. trilobite. This is a complete Eldredgeops milleri from the famous Silica Shale deposits of Ohio. This colorful trilobite was recently acquired from an old trilobite collection. The bug is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. The trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The large, compound eyes are very nice - the honeycomb of individual lenses is easily seen. The  glabella is missing some skin, but the texture of the rest of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is quite nice. This bug has natural, rich brown coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. And at almost two inches long, this critter is quite impressive. This is an affordable example of Eldredgeops found decades ago.
