This is simply an incredible multiple trilobite plate. It is a plate of 10 Ampyx trilobites from the Ordovician of Morocco. This amazing slab was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. These trilobites are REAL, unlike many of the Moroccan Ampyx specimens on the market that have carved and painted spines. These ten trilobites are all in line, five by five, forming an "X" on the rock - this is extremely unusual in the fossil record. These trilobites were probably preserved in a windrow, or fossilized how they were washed up on a beach - hard to tell! The trilobites are wonderfully articulated and exhibit excellent detail. The fossils are also extremely inflated and 3-D for this type. The dark orange-red color of the trilobites contrasts superbly with the light-colored matrix. The bugs are beautifully showcased on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is an extremely unusual ''death assemblage'' plate of unusual Ampyx trilobites from Morocco - a museum-quality example of a very unusual trilobite mass mortality.
