Here is a large example of a classic trilobite from the United States. This is a very cool Modocia typicalis from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite is very prone and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present, and the LONG genal spines are well displayed. The bug is somewhat inflated and exhibits fine detail. The sharply-pointed pleural spines are mostly intact - some may have been bitten short. This trilobite has wonderful natural color - the red-orange fossil contrasts beautifully with the pinkish-tan matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very nice, large (1.7 inches long!) example of Modocia typicalis from the Marjum Shale.
