This is a very displayable specimen of Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) (=Crotalocephalus) gibbus from the Devonian of Morocco. This large specimen was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits incredible detail. The very small eyes are easily seen, and the short genal spines are clearly defined. The triangular pleurons terminate in sharp points, and the upswept pygidial spines are intact and have been prepared in high relief for optimal display. The 3-dimensional bug has fantastic color and contrast and is beautifully showcased on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is an excellent example of this strange-looking trilobite.
