This is a spectacular example of a rare spiny trilobite. It is a breathtaking Triarthrus spinosus from Eastern Canada. The ID label on the back of the plate says it is from Newfoundland, but we think it is probably from Ontario or Quebec. The trilobite has extremely nice detail preserved - both genal spines and LONG axial spine are very easily seen. The NATURAL orange and white color is both striking and beautiful. The large fossil is beautifully showcased on LARGE, natural plate of shale that contains many straight cephalopods. This is simply one of the best examples of this elusive spiny trilobite ever found.
