This is a nice pair of Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous well over a century ago! The two trilobites have their tails curled under, but both specimens on the plate have their eyes intact, which is quite unusual. The trilobites have good detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons well. The bugs are well displayed on the 5" X 5" limestone plate (not pictured). Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a piece like this is. This is an affordable double example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
