This is a beutifully prepared Ceraurus trilobite. It is a ventral Ceraurus globulobatus from Ontario, Canada. We acquired this breathtaking specimen from the Eugene Thomas Collection, unprepared, and prepared it ventrally in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. First, the trilobite is amazingly well articulated and extremely prone. The thick shell exoskeleton is incredibly well-preserved, and the detail is amazing. The sweeping genal spines are fully natural and unrestored, the long tailspines are fully natural and unrestored, well, you get the picture. And the distinct, bulbous hypostoma (mouthplate) is intact and in life position! This is an impressive, ''textbook'' ventrally-prepared trilobite. It is a wonderful display piece - a rare glimpse at the underside of this classic Canadian Ceraurus trilobite.
