This is a rare spiny trilobite from a classic US site. It is a complete Meadowtownella trentonensis from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous over a century ago! The Harvard WRQ website describes Meadowtownella: "The trilobite is ornate, small, and rarely over 2.5cm (1 inch) long" - that describes this specimen to a tee. This trilobite is complete, with both eyes and free cheeks intact. The bug has very good detail preserved and is very well articulated. The long genal and pleural spines are intact, and the tail also has its spines fully displayed. The trilobite is well showcased on the squared limestone plate that also contains two killer Ceraurus pleurexanthemus! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important an Odontopleurid from this locality is - it is a rare piece of history. This is a very rare association plate of a Meadowtownella trentonensis trilobite from New York State.
