This is an extremely well-prepared trilobite. It is a spectacular specimen of Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This beautiful specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This type of Crotalocephalina is different than the majority of Crotalocephalina out there called "Crotalocephalina gibbus". This type has a less bulbous glabella and is more compact and not as long. This fabulous outstretched trilobite is EXTREMELY 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. The detail of the trilobite is just amazing - the entire head and tail sections have been prepared free-standing. The triangular pleurons terminate in sharp points, and the distinct hypostoma (mouthplate) is fully exposed and displays beautifully. The bug has outstanding color and contrast and is wonderfully showcased on the pillar of sculpted limestone. The trilobite is even more impressive than what the pictures show. This is a top quality specimen of this rare species of Crotalocephalina that could have only been prepared by a Master.
