Here is a very unusual specimen of Kainops raymondi from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. This trilobite is differentiated from Paciphacops by the larger number of lenses in the eyes. This specimen is quite large and nicely preserved. The bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. But the unusual part of this fossil is it has been prepared ventrally - "hollowed out", if you will. This is a very uncommon ventral example of this large-eyed Phacopid trilobite from the Haragan Formation.
