This is an excellent example of a classic US trilobite. It is a complete Bellacartwrightia (=Neometacanthus) calliteles from the Penn-Dixie quarry near Buffalo, New York. This type of trilobite has long, thick genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - both of these features are clearly defined and beautifully displayed on this specimen. The genal spines have even been prepared free-standing! The inflated bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail - the eye facets are even preserved! The trilobite has very nice color and contrast and is well presented on the large block of shale that also contains a LONG pyritized cephalopod and a distinct horn coral! This is an excellent example of this highly sought-after trilobite from New York associated with other fossils.
