Here is a very unusual US trilobite. This is Huntoniatonia (Huntonia) oklahomae from the Lower Devonian. This species of Huntonia has a snout projection and a caudal spine - both are beautifully displayed on this specimen. This trilobite is enrolled, and the tail has been prepared "hollowed out". Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The distinct bug exhibits excellent detail - the cephalic process is easily seen, and both the head and tail are clearly defined. The large compound eyes of this trilobite are well displayed. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the large block of limestone that also contains a beautiful brachiopod. This is a very uncommon enrolled example of a classic Huntonia from the Haragan Formation.
