This is a classic US trilobite. It is a complete Bellacartwrightia (Neometacanthus) calliteles from the Penn-Dixie quarry near Buffalo, New York. This type of trilobite has long, thick genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - both of these features are clearly defined and beautifully displayed on this specimen. The inflated bug is well showcased and exhibits great detail - the compound eye facets are displayed in both eyes! The trilobite has very nice color and contrast and is well presented on the sculpted block of shale that also contains an Otarion craspedota cephalon and a distinct bryozoan! This is a very nice example of this highly sought-after trilobite from New York.
