This is a very attractive US trilobite. It is a fine specimen of Reedops deckeri from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. Recent papers by A.Sandford (2004,2005) have reassigned this species to the genus Lochkovella. The bug has been meticulously prepared, under a microscope, in the EXTINCTIONS prep lab here in Colorado. This Phacopid trilobite is wonderfully outstretched and nicely inflated. The trilobite has great detail - the very fine pustules on the entire exoskeleton are still intact. The large compound eyes are well preserved, and the individual lenses of the eyes are easily seen. The trilobite has excellent color and contrast and is beautifully displayed on the large, natural plate of matrix that also contains a brachiopod, Orthostrophia strophomenoides, and a solitary coral. This is a very unique plate of fossils from the Haragan Formation.
