Here is a very unusual trilobite. This is Eoharpes sp. from the Ordovician of Morocco. It has been quite a while since we have seen a specimen of this particular trilobite. Harpid trilobites are very rare and among the most collectable trilobites in the world. This type has an extremely broad cephalic brim with many pits and corrugations. The bug has many, many thoracic segments and a tiny pygidium. This specimen is curled with the broad genal spines in a free-standing position. The bug is inflated and has nice, thick exoskeleton - which is very unusual for the Ordovician deposits of Morocco. The ancient arthropod has excellent color and contrasts extremely well with the light-colored matrix. The trilobite is beautifully showcased on the squared block of limestone. This is a very aesthetic specimen of an extremely rare Eoharpes.
