This is an extremely well-prepared trilobite. It is a spectacular specimen of Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) gibbus from the Devonian of Morocco. This beautiful specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This large, inflated trilobite is EXTREMELY 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. The detail of the trilobite is just amazing. The very small eyes are easily seen, and the short genal spines are intact. The triangular pleurons terminate in sharp points, and the upswept pygidial spines are quite impressive, and have been prepared in a free-standing position. The hypostoma, or mouthplate, of the trilobite is present and well displayed. The bug has outstanding color and contrast and is beautifully showcased on the sculpted limestone block. The trilobite is much more impressive in person than what the pictures show. This is a very displayable specimen of Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) gibbus.
