It is a sculpted Phacops speculator from Morocco. This specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. The rock has been professionally extracted from around the trilobite, giving the appearance it is floating in mid-air! The entire trilobite has been prepared free-standing - how time consuming! The trilobite is super clean, the compound eye facets are very nice, and the hypostome (mouthplate) has been exposed in preparation. The detail is fabulous - the pustules on the exoskeleton are very easily seen. And the natural coloration is quite an eye opener (The trilobite is darker than it appears in the photos).
