This is a beautiful enrolled trilobite. It is a large Eldredgeops milleri from the Silica Shale of Ohio. This tightly enrolled specimen was beautifully prepared, free of matrix, in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This complete trilobite is extremely inflated and exhibits absolutely no crushing or deformation whatsoever. The detail of the thick exoskeleton is excellent, and the compound faceted eyes are totally intact. The chocolate-brown coloration both striking and fully natural. The bug displays beautifully in the original rock from which it was popped out (RARE!). This is a nearly perfect example of an enrolled Eldredgeops milleri on matrix from this classic US locality. (Yes, the trilobite REALLY DOES fit tightly back into the spot where it was originally extracted!)
