This is a fabulous Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a striking Olenellus gilberti from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection, and you can easily see why. The trilobite is complete including the long telson (tailspine). The detail of this trilobite is wonderful - even the long genal and pleural spines are wonderfully showcased. The bug is nicely inflated and well centered on the large, squared plate. The fabulous color and contrast makes this bug stand out beautifully against the surrounding matrix. This is one of the most complete Olenellus gilberti trilobites we have ever had.
