This is a classic US trilobite. It is a complete Bellacartwrightia (Neometacanthus) calliteles from the Penn-Dixie quarry near Buffalo, New York. This type of trilobite has long, thick genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - both of these features are clearly defined and beautifully displayed on this specimen. The inflated bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail - the eye facets are even preserved! The trilobite has very nice color and contrast and is well presented on the sculpted block of shale that also contains FIVE distinct horn corals and a complete, ventral Eldredgeops! This is an excellent example of this highly sought-after trilobite from New York.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
