This is a rare, complete example of an extremely unusual US trilobite. It is a prone specimen of Isotelus iowensis from the Ordovician of Missouri. This trilobite is usually found in parts or disarticulated - this one is super-tight. The bug is almost perfectly prone and 3-dimensionally preserved. The trilobite exhibits very fine detail - the eyes are easily seen protruding above the carapace. The light-caramel-colored trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large block of limestone - what more could you want? This is an excellent specimen of Isotelus iowensis, one of the hardest species of Isotelus trilobites to acquire.
