This is a rare US trilobite. It is a spiny Olenoides trispinus from Millard County, Utah. This unusual specimen was found at the public site in 1996. The trilobite is a complete ventral, with both free cheeks intact. The dark shell exoskeleton of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. The bug has its hypostoma (mouthplate) preserved and easily seen. The fossil displays very well on the large, squared block of dense limestone. And there is even a rare Ctenocystis utahensis echinoderm preserved near the center right tailspine! This is a very fine example of a rare ventral Olenoides.
