Here is a rare trilobite from the Devonian of Morocco. It is a complete Phaetonellus planicauda africanus, an unusual Proetid trilobite. This specimen has three pair of pygidial spines, and the pleurons that also extend into sharply-pointed spines. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached, with the genal spines intact and long, but not as long as Cornuproetus. And the bug even has a row of very prominent axial nodes! This semi-outstretched specimen is complete and wonderfully articulated. The black color of the trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The bug is beautifully showcased on a large, sculpted plate of dense limestone. This is a very collectible example of this extremely unusual trilobite from Morocco.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
